What We Really Think

The sunshine and surroundings beckoned an opportunity to take our new Himalayan demonstrator out today

First impressions count and before even getting on it immediately gives confidence with something as simple as the ease of taking it off the centre stand and zero drama manoeuvrability.

Equally the seat is well sculpted at 800mm, that just over 31” in old money or 30” if you buying trousers. What is impressive is there is no need to be a champion pillion seat pole vaulter, you just “get on”.

As the ride continued the seat is a joy, no return of feeling shuffling required. The foot pegs are at 6 o’clock where your feet naturally find them, the handlebars equally are positioned to put no strain on you while riding and the mirrors are up and out so you actually see what’s behind you, the display is clear and tells you all you need to know including real time gears, fuel situation and a compass.

The single cylinder 411cc unit has a great beat and has no need to wake up the neighbors to get it moving. The ride is sure footed on A roads without buffeting and really comes to life in the country lanes that shows how good the set up is, particularly the gearbox which, like all the Royal Enfield range, is superb.

Forget the price tag, we know it’s unbeatable value, the overwhelming attraction when returning to the shop the Himalayan re-established itself as a great bike and probably the easiest proper bike anyone could ride anywhere at anytime.
