We've all heard about it, seen it in advertisements and sales pages, its been around in the whole of the automotive industry for a long time. So long in fact, its a little like not wanting to ask what's really in that dish in your favourite restaurant because you don't want to look foolish...
So here is a flavour of this now familiar phrase that you may want to get your teeth into, or not...
What does pre-registered mean?
Put simply it means that a vehicle has been previously registered within the DVLA by a previous owner, which was also the first V5 holder. Typically they have been registered under the dealerships or importers name.
Now you may ask why would they do that?
The reasoning behind this is for the most part very simple: Hitting sales targets, clearing stock and increasing brand awareness.
What's in it for you?
An opportunity to buy a brand new bike for a cheaper price, so technically this is a Win-Win situation.
The big question to ask yourself has to be, is pre-reg right for you?
Are You:
Looking for a new motorcycle on a budget, then pre-reg could be the perfect solution.
Wanting to get yourself a new bike at a reduced price?
Pre-Reg offers that opportunity.
For clarity, a pre-reg is not to be confused with a demo bike, which is typically used by customers wanting to test the bike and will come with a certain amount of mileage and wear.
A pre-reg is new and will normally only have delivery mileage on the clock. However, it will be 'classed' as a used bike.
The Pros:
You will save money, which we all enjoy.
It's still a new bike, as long as you don't mind not being the first name on the log book.
Availability, they are in stock so it's a quick turn around and you can be riding in a very short time.
The Cons:
Warranty - A manufacturers warranty is applied to any new bike, including pre-registered. However, it begins from the date of registration, so depending on how long your new bike has been unsold the clock is counting down. The quicker you buy the longer the warranty !
Limited Model Availability - You shouldn't have a problem finding a pre-reg bike that suits your needs from KJM - But you will need to be quick because at such great value they wont be around long and when they are gone, they are gone!
What You See Is What You Get - Unlike new, unregistered bikes on a web site, pre-reg are real and only available in the colours and spec available, although we can look at dealer fit accessories for you.
However if you just have to have that certain something that's not on the list, be it colour or specification then we have lots of new unregistered bikes too, so just ask.
We are sure with the stock we hold, we will have the right bike for you.
In Summary: If you are looking for a new bike but don't want to pay new bike prices then it's definitely worth looking at the range of pre registered bikes available from KJM Superbike Ltd.
