Ducati's entry level range has Scrambler written all over it. This Classic version of the Scrambler's line-up is definitely unique!The added aluminum fenders, spoked wheels and the leather seat makes a great difference look wise. Other than that the Scrambler Classic shares the same winning formula with all the other Scramblers.
It starts with the 803cc L-Twin engine. The air-cooled unit makes 73 bhp and 67 nm of torque. Coupled with the lightweight chassis that makes it feel super agile - the Scrambler is an effective way to get away from everyday's traffic and pull away with it's low down torque.
It's all good vibes and vibrations coming from this old school bike.
Ducati really put its stamp on it! Even though the Scrambler is "made to a budget" compared to the other bikes the brand makes. La Casa di Panigale has made sure to give it that Ducati touch.
Handling is very good even though it's got an 18inch front wheel and it's equipped with a set of Pirellis MT60s.
The suspension set-up allows for easy maneuvers and gives so much confidence to push it quite hard through corners. Not something I was expecting from this kind of bike.
The 41mm up-side down front forks are not adjustable and feel tight enough. But pull the front brake hard and it will dive quite a lot.
At the rear the mono shock is only preload adjustable and it feels a bit hard at it stock setting. You can definitely feel the worst out of the smallest road bumps. But the 150mm travel front and back helps it feel stable and safe pretty much on every terrain.
On paper the single disc front brake shouldn't perform this well, but it does!
The massive Brembo caliper offers great stopping power and more than what's needed for a bike with this kind of power.
In 2019 Ducati updated the Scrambler line-up with Bosch Cornering ABS and completed the otherwise lacking-of-information dash. Now it has a gear position indicator and a fuel gauge.
There's still no traction control, power modes and other electronics aids but I don't think any of that it's needed. Especially when the throttle response is near to perfection.
The Ducati Scrambler Classic is a pure Italian retro with a comfortable riding position and a capable engine. Old school vibes and a fun riding experience, what else would you want from a Ducati branded Classic?
I personally think it's worth every penny!
