One of the proudest aspects of Royal Enfields history is the success acheived in International Six Day Trials In a period from 1948 to 1953 Royal Enfield was unparralleled in its ability to withstand and excel at these grueling events of anything up to 1500 miles, A Gold Medal at an ISDT was the undisputed proof of a great machine plus recognition of fearless skill & ability of the rider. Names such as Brittain, Stocker, Holmes & Nystrom dominated these tests of Man & Machine and the Royal Enfield was the dominant manufacturer. not content with the 350cc success in 1951 Enfield launched a entirely new 500 Twin that continued the domination to be Victorious in the 'Trophy' that year. Now 7 decades later Royal Enfield pays tribute to this golden era in Motorsport with the Bullet 500 Trials edition. Todays rider benefits from many developments in technology, reliability and safety, due in large part to the drive to succeed by the exceptional resourcefulness and resilience of the factory teams that competed in brutal conditions, this on machines that were built for reliability in the toughest of environments, using equipment that by modern standards were basic & tested under the most extreme of conditions. The Bullet Trials 500 houses the same, 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke engine as on the Standard bikes, with fuel-injection, it thrums out a Bullet typical beat. The Trials makes ample low and mid-range grunt, producing 27.2bhp at 5100rpm & upto 43nm of torque, giving real useable flexibility, the 500 is a smooth motorcycle to ride. Equipped with a smooth shifting five-speed gearbox operated in a one-down, four-up shifted pattern, Bullet does what a Motorcycle was always meant to do.
